Moses
"Mosey", as we call him, is named after my mother's Southern White Bulldog from her youth. Her "Moses" was an American Bulldog. Her Moses was also who I was writing about when I wrote the "Story of Moses". This Mosey, however, is an AKC Bulldog. He weighs about 50 pounds and is a stocky, friendly little fellow with many of the same markings as my American Bulldogs, but with far less power in his chubby little body. This Mosey is no guard dog. He'll bark when he sees or hears something or someone unusual, but he'll also climb right into their car and want to go for a ride as soon as the door is opened, something I guess that the Federal Express and UPS guys will just have to get used to. This Moses LOVES people. All people. He has no hesitation about
climbing into anyone's car or lap if the opportunity presents itself. Also, this
Moses, when compared to other AKC bulldogs, is quite an athlete. He can leap
into the back of our pickup with ease. Although he's never been allowed to ride
back there, he still insists on giving it a try. We chose Moses because of several factors, the primary one being a lack of serious genetic problems in his lineage. I was also very impressed with his sire and dam. They were friendly, healthy and athletic. Athleticism is not a trait generally described when talking about the AKC bulldog, but, an athletic dog is going to be a far healthier dog in the long run. If they can and do move fluidly and correctly, there is less chance of the dog having orthopedic problems as they age. As a dog judge once told me, "A better mover means a better dog." Moses' mom and dad were definitely better dogs than I had been used to seeing. It didn't take long for me to choose from that litter. They were all robust, healthy puppies. Moses was the only white puppy in the litter. Primarily white dogs, although not a disqualifying fault, are not as desirable to the AKC bulldog crowd as the heavily colored ones. I, personally, like white dogs as long as they have dark noses. The choice was simple and Moses came home with me. As it turned out, it was a great choice and we are very pleased to be able to offer Moses' progeny as our Olde English Bulldogge puppies. Gilbert
Gilbert is a good-looking, correct and athletic AKC bulldog. He’s got good,
strong, straight legs, a nice head, and a wonderful temperament. Gilbert,
combined with Scout and Punkin, will make some very nice, very colorful Olde
English Bulldogges. His puppies, combined with Scout, will mature in the 50 to
60 pound range. Combined with Punkin, in the 65 to 75 pound range. They will all
undoubtedly be athletic, correct, healthy, and LOVE people. Shadow
Shadow is a grandson of Bruno, nephew of Levi, and father of Scout. A good example of the Southern White Bulldog, Shadow shows power, ability and drive in a muscular body not exceeding 100 pounds. In my opinion, the perfect size for a male American Bulldog. Levi
Although no longer part of our breeding program, Levi appears in so many of our photographs we thought we’d better explain who he is. Levi is a son of Bruno. He was to be used as our stud dog but his hips, although, “okay” were not good enough to use for breeding. His nephew, Shadow, has hips that are excellent. So, why breed a dog with good hips when you can breed a dog with better hips? That’s what we thought, too. Levi is neutered . He is, however, the American Bulldog ambassador. Everyone meeting him wanting a dog, “just like Levi.” Bruno
Bruno is our foundation patriarch. Bruno is an old man now and is no longer used for breeding. His progeny all over the United States have made a very positive impact on the American Bulldog breed. Better hips, great temperament. Friendly to strangers yet protective of family. This is the stamp that Bruno has wielded. We are very proud to have him as our patriarch in our breeding program. |
