Easily trained, non-shedding, child- and family-friendly, our Toy and Miniature Poodles are the best bet for small or non-existent yards, apartments, and town homes because our puppies are litter-box trained and easily housebroken. They are guaranteed against life- threatening and health-compromising genetic problems. They are raised in a clean, loving, environment enriched with activities geared toward creating the smartest, most affectionate, well-balanced companion dog possible. Our dogs are loyal, long-lived and people-oriented. They are playful, affectionate, and healthy. They are the perfect family dog and companion. Our dogs do not do well in households where no one is home. They need someone around most of the time. They love laps. They love walks, car rides and ANYTHING that involves being with their people. Whether it’s a night of watching TV by the couch, or a long run on the beach, as long as it involves being with their person or people, they are happy.

If you are retired, work from home, or can take your dog with you to work, one of our dogs might be a good choice for your home. If you are gone more than five hours a day on a regular (five-days-a-week) basis, you’re probably not a good match for one of our puppies. They are simply too people-oriented to spend that much time alone.

This is dad-to-be, Pepe

We are not a large multi-dog kennel. Our dogs live in the house with us and our puppies are born in the house and generally are not outside unless we are outside with them. They are raised with other dogs, large and small, cats, and children. We have horses, pigs, chickens, ducks and cattle, too. Our puppies are vet checked, vaccinated, wormed, and groomed before going to their new homes. Pups can be shipped anywhere with in the continental United States. We do not ship our puppies overseas. We will consider shipping to Canada if the puppy rides in the passenger compartment of the plane with the owner. All shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer. Cost of our puppies includes veterinary exam, first shots, American Kennel Club registration, first and second worming, and first grooming. Puppies that are breeding quality are $1800, all other puppies are to be spayed or neutered by the age of seven months. Pet puppies are $600.

Our next litter of Poodle puppies is due around October, 2008.  This litter will be the third for Pixie, our apricot miniature, and the second for Pepe, the little Toy Poodle she will be bred to.  Because Pixie weighs in at 16 pounds and Pepe weights in at 5.5 pounds, we expect the puppies to mature in the toy size at around eight to ten pounds.  Since Pepe is chocolate and Pixie is a parti-apricot, we most likely will get mostly apricots, champagne and maybe some browns in the litter.  (A parti-colored dog is a dog with white on it as well as its base color.

Upon acceptance, you will be asked for a $100 deposit to hold your space for a puppy. Deposits are refundable only if the litter does not have the puppy you desire (i.e., not enough males or females). With guidance from Terry, puppy picks are given to buyers in the order in which the deposits were received. Rocky Mountain Rawhide accepts Visa and MasterCard, good checks and cash for the deposit. Final payment must be tendered in cash or credit card. Full payment is expected before the new puppy joins it’s new family. Although puppies can be picked out at six weeks, they may not go home until they are at least eight weeks old. Puppies to be shipped cannot be shipped until they are a minimum of nine weeks, even if they travel inside the cabin with the owner.
