Occasionally, Rocky Mountain Rawhide will have available rescued puppies and adult dogs that have passed our rigorous temperament tests. When available, these dogs will be in excellent health, have no temperament faults or problems and will have passed numerous tests in order to qualify for our Rocky Mountain Rawhide name. These dogs will usually be purebred dogs who have ended up in shelters or homeless through no fault of their own. Their owner has died, the owner has lost their home, the new baby has allergies to dogs, etc. Adult dogs who are offered through Rocky Mountain Rawhide are going to be housebroken, good with kids and other dogs and have been thoroughly socialized to crowds, farm animals, heavy machinery, cars, strangers, and anything else we can think of. They may not be absolutely perfect, but at least we will know what imperfections they have and can tell you about them in advance. Additionally, adult dogs are obedience trained while here and not offered until training is complete. Each adult, large breed dog adopted from Rocky Mountain Rawhide will have had at least 4 weeks of training. Normally, this training would run the average dog owner about $1000 or more. With the exception of very rare breeds, most purebred dogs that are adopted fully trained from Rocky Mountain Rawhide are going to be half that. Available Now
“Atticus”, a 4 year-old, neutered male Neopolitan Mastiff arrived at the very end of October. His owners lost their home and were moving their entire family into a trailer that would not accommodate this beautiful, but large, purebred dog. Atticus weighs 135 pounds. He is
excellent with babies, toddlers, and children of any age. He finds humor in
small dogs and tolerates them nicely. He likes strangers but sounds like a Big
Mean Dog when someone comes to the door. He wouldn’t hurt a fly unless he sat on
it. The Neopolitan Mastiff is a very rare, but very old Mediterranean breed recently recognized by The American Kennel Club. The cost for Atticus, including his crate, collar, leash, shots, and training, is $900.00. This is about $1300 less than what you would pay for a puppy of this breed from a breeder. Life expectancy for this breed is 10 to 13 years. If you think you would be an
excellent home for Atticus, call or email Terry for an interview.
